Eighteen rooms behind a quiet wood gate, six minutes from the Pacific. The family behind Vendange took over in 2012 and turned a forgotten inn into a small wine-themed retreat — marble walk-in showers, a welcoming garden, free parking on a street that almost never has any.
There is no chain logo. There is no buffet line. There is a host who knows your name by the second night, and a glass placed in your hand at five on Friday.

THE RITUAL
Friday and Saturday, five o'clock.
Twice a week, when the afternoon light softens over Carpenter Street, we open the cellar. Cabernet, a chilled white, a board of cheese and salami, grapes still on the vine, walnuts, warm bread. Guests linger by the garden. Conversations start between neighbors who met an hour ago.
There is no buffet line, no table assignment — just a glass placed in your hand at five, and the slow part of your weekend begins.

What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Check-out is by 11:00 AM. The front desk is staffed twenty-four hours, so a late arrival is no problem — just let us know.
Do you have on-site parking?
Yes, free self-parking on the property. The lot is compact but reliable — and rare in Carmel village.
Is breakfast included?
We offer complimentary morning coffee, tea, and continental offerings for guests.
Can I bring my dog?
Yes — up to two dogs, $25 per night per dog. Any size welcome. Pets cannot be left unattended in the room. Cats are not permitted at this time.
When is the wine and cheese reception?
Every Friday and Saturday, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, in the garden. Complimentary for all guests staying that night. Book direct and we reserve your seat.
How far is Carmel Beach?
About one mile — a twenty-minute walk through the village, or a four-minute drive. We'll point you to the best entry.
